Protected Geographical Indication Heraklion
Grape varieties: Vilana & Sauvignon Blanc
Region: Location Tholi, Peza, Heraklion
Terroir: Altitude over 500 meters, non-irrigated vineyards (slopes with 10% inclination), argil-clay soil, bushlike pruning, yields of 45-52hl/ha. North winds blowing during summer create a cool environment, protecting the vineyards from long sunshine exposure.
Oenology: Cold maceration for 7-8 hours. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks and maturation “sur lies” for 13 months in French oak barriques. Bottling takes place at least two years after harvest. Long ageing potential, that can exceed the period of 10 years.
Name: The queen of Mediterra wines, as its name reveals. “Άnassa” means “Queen” in ancient Greek.
Personality: Bright gold-yellowish colour, aromas of candied fruits, white flowers and citrus fruits. Plethoric, full taste with decent acidity, rich in yellow fruits aromas with vanilla notes.
