Grape varieties: Kotsifali, Syrah & Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: Houdetsi and Vathypetro, Heraklion.
Terroir: Altitude of 350-500 meters, non-irrigated inclining vineyards, argillo-calcareous and granitic soils with good water draining capacity, royat pruning, yields of 39-45hl/ha. North winds that blow during summertime create a cool environment.
Oenology: Originating from vineyards of low yield, this wine of limited production ages for 18 months in French “Allier” and “Nevers” barriques of 300lt and has an ageing potential of at least 7-10 years.
Name: Its name originates from the deep red, fiery color of the grape varieties it is made of (Pyra=Fire, Raga=berry).
Personality: Deep purple colour. Complex and delicate aromatic character, dominated by aromas of fresh and dry red fruits with spicy, tobacco and leather notes in the background. Concentrated, firm and generous taste.
